Eastman Summer Trombone Institute
Each year the Eastman School of Music hosts a five day Summer Trombone Institute, usually held in early August.
Initiated in 2006, this intensive workshop is designed for high school and college level trombonists and bass trombonists and provides participants with an opportunity to perform in master classes, study privately with Eastman faculty and guests, listen to special topic discussions such as audition preparation, orchestral section playing, preparing for college auditions, jazz improvisation, and doubling on other low brass instruments. During the course of the Institute, participants are also able to participate in chamber groups (quartets/trios) as well as trombone choir.
The Eastman Summer Trombone Institute can accommodate up to 25 trombonists. Application information is available through the SUMMER SESSION tab on the Eastman School of Music website.
